Time-Inclined Method for High-Fidelity Rotor/Stator Simulations

The application of the time-inclined method in a fourth-order unstructured flux-reconstruction code for turbomachinery is demonstrated. Inviscid and viscous unsteady results due to interaction an incoming gust total pressure with linear cascade flat plates T106A low-pressure turbine airfoils are reported. agreement between equivalent full-annulus multipassage solution very high both cases. Viscous solutions at Reynolds numbers 104 105 were conducted. A degree matching was obtained whole annulus approaches. limitations explored discussed. While evolution boundary layers created by wakes well captured, mixing associated trailing edge vortex shedding less accurate. critical parameter controlling method’s accuracy local Strouhal number. It demonstrated that benefit retaining exact blade count simulations overcomes slight differences limitation model effects accurately all situations.
